...Kuala Lumpur — Night of October 25, 2025, H.E. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, traveled to Malaysia to participate in the signing ceremony of the Peace Agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, which will take place on the morning of October 26, in Kuala Lumpur. This signing ceremony was organized under the participation as an invited witness of the President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump, and was the last person who agreed to change the time from afternoon to morning, according to the request of the Thai side, so that H.E. Anutin can immediately return to the country after the ceremony to continue arranging the Royal Funeral Rites for the Passing of Queen Sirikit. According to information from international media Reuters, Washington Post, and AP, this Peace Agreement has the main objective of ending the tension and fighting along the border between Thailand and Cambodia, which occurred continuously in the recent period. This ceremony is also part of the peace activities before the ASEAN Summit, which will take place next month. This Peace Agreement includes 4 important conditions: 1. Extracting heavy weapons from the border area. 2. Cooperating to solve the problem of mine ground in the old war zones. 3. Creating a two co-government peace performance group to monitor the situation. 4. Promoting cooperation to prevent cross-border crime. Malaysia, led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, played a significant mediating role in reconciliation negotiations so that peace could return. While the United States of America also actively supported in sustaining and coordinating this ceremony. Various political analysts confirmed that this Thai–Cambodian Peace Agreement is an important step in maintaining political stability and peace in the Southeast Asian region. It shows that countries in the region can solve disputes peacefully and cooperate between small nations and large nations without using weapons. After the signing ceremony, H.E. Anutin will immediately travel back to Thailand to participate in arranging the Royal Funeral Rites for the Passing of Queen Sirikit, which is being prepared soon. This agreement is hoped to open the door for a new era of peace in the Thai–Cambodian border area and increase good relations between the two neighboring countries.
