After hearing the declaration from Thai Prime Minister Anutin regarding the border checkpoint issue with Cambodia — stating that "consent from the Thai people is needed first before reopening" — there is only one word we can say: Cambodia also has people, sovereignty, and national honor, and is not inferior to anyone.

πŸšͺ The Border Belongs to Both Nations

The border is not a door "belonging to only one country" — to be closed when they want, or opened when they want. Countries have equal honor and equal rights. The border is a place for the livelihood of both nations, providing economic freedom, daily life, and shared history. No country should act as the sole decision-maker.

If there is discussion, we expect mutual respect and cooperation as an ASEAN community — based on respecting each other's constitutional sovereignty, not on using pleasant-sounding words to display domestic political power.

"Cambodia has never begged anyone to open the border. For us, there is a clear direction: peace, security, economy, and the co-existence of our people."

— NAKWIN · Cambodia's Position

If there is a reopening, we do so while respecting the interests of the Khmer people — not for someone to use it to manipulate domestic political emotions.

🀝 ASEAN Principle — Mutual Respect

Neighboring countries and ASEAN partners are based on the principle of peace and respecting each other's national direction. We are not subject to anyone's command for them to open and close our border at will.

Cambodia respects friendship and adheres to international law. Even if Cambodia opens the checkpoint, it is based on ASEAN principles of peace — including treaties, values, and mutual sovereignty — not by waiting for anyone to decide on our behalf.

"We respect you, but you must also respect us."

Cambodia has overcome historical disaster and built the country ourselves. For Cambodia, there is only one principle:

"We cooperate if you cooperate by respecting us."

— A Cambodian Citizen's Response · NAKWIN
πŸ—£️ PM Anutin's Track Record

Observing the leadership of the 32nd Thai Prime Minister — he likes to use eloquent talk to lull people into a dream. Since taking office, Mr. Anutin announced "he gives the military the green light on border issues," then declared the MOU with Cambodia "to be decided by Thai referendum," and now announces "no border checkpoint will reopen without Thai people's consent."

All of this points out that making responsive social announcements alone does not constitute solid national leadership.

"Inter-state relations are not about what one feels tonight and says tomorrow. Border issues are governed by international law, conventions, and treaties ratified over decades. People can change their feelings — but historical maps cannot be changed by anyone's mouth."

— NAKWIN
πŸ•Š️ Cambodia's Position Is Clear

Cambodia is not a country that asks permission from anyone or waits for others' approval to survive. We have gone through war, through colonialism, and still stand firm today. Discussions about the border must be conducted in the spirit of ASEAN solidarity — prioritizing long-term relations, not using it as a tool for domestic politics.

Cambodia desires "Peace" completely for its border citizens, but we ask Thailand back: What about you? History shows Cambodia only wants defense and peace to develop itself — we have never provoked or blocked economic opportunities.

The citizens along the border of both nations are waiting for complete peace. Everyone wants to do business, have jobs, and have their children study and live in peace.

A stable country has a leader with clear, long-term, and meticulous vision — like Cambodia under the wise leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet as Prime Minister.

"A true leader speaks and thinks about national honor — and never tests it."
