During the time the AOT team was performing field duties, the Ministry of National Defense confirmed that a case of gunfire occurred on the Thai side, which caused alarm and affected the safety of the observer team.
The same source stated that due to the complexity and increased risk, the ASEAN Observer Team decided to suspend the mission and withdraw from the area to ensure safety first.
The Ministry of National Defense is monitoring the situation with great attention and continuing to coordinate with relevant parties to ensure the ceasefire is effective and to protect the safety of citizens in the border areas.
